About the Shawls
Julie Barker while a parishioner here at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church had worked on Prayer Shawls at another parish up north and thought it would be a wonderful idea for St. Michaels’s.
Care and love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayer ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many Blessings are knitted into every shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final Blessing at the Mass before being sent along its way.
As this gift had been sent along, some some recipients have continued the kindness by making one themselves and passing it along onto someone in need.
Thus ,the Blessing is rippled from person to person, with both the giver and receiver feeling unconditional embrace of sheltering, mothering God!
